This is my unvarnished assessment of Brad Callen's "Keyword Elite".

More and more people, are using Keyword Elite for their money making keyword research.

Personally, I have used, in the past SEO Elite, Keyword Elite and am, at this time, trying Brad Callen's brand new product, "Affiliate Elite". I have found them all perfect for my needs.

At this time, Keyword Elite lists five categories. I'll take them one at a time and give you a very brief run down of their points.

Project 1 - Create a keyword list: If you prefer a larger keyword list, Keyword Elite makes it easy. Simply enter a primary keyword, or phrase and choose the search engines. Keyword Elite will generate a keyword list, varying in size from 100 to 10,000 keywords, from Google, Yahoo!, Meta Tags. Plus misspellings, if you wish to include them. WordTracker, or Keyword Discovery, may also be searched, if you have an account with one, or the other. Or both.

A word of warning A very large list, such as 10,000 can take time to generate. Can take a day, or more. This was included to prevent you from being banned, by spacing the queries, as abuse of automatic keyword mining has spoiled it for us. Not to worry though, as you don't have to be impatient until the end before starting work on your masterpiece.

Project 2 - Analyze pay-per-click listings: Also childsplay. Just put in your keywords, then find the most suitable of the search engines. Results may take a little while. While waiting, go into Report View and workyour little tail off there. Look at: Searches, KEI, Total results and searches, cost of Adwords clicks. Campaign numbers AdWords, Enhance, Miva and Yahoo. Loads more for you to tnjoy yourselves there.

Project 3 - Select a keyword list: Saves a lot of time. Really a dictionary of keywords and phrases. 40,000, plus, lists will appear for you. Keyword Elite will format your keywords for broad, phrase and exact matches.

Project 4 - Analyze keyword competition: Keyword Elite displays keyword information for the top 10 sites. Great to find Possible partner web sites.

Project 5 - Spy on AdWords competition: Another great way to make more money from your PPC campaigns. Find the best advertisers and rework their advertisements.

In Keyword Elite, you can easily switch over your findings, from one project to another. This, of course, saves you even more time.

Call me crazy, but I love the analogy that publishing an article is like hiring a salesman and sending him out to sell for me. Not only do I think it is cool to think about how many salesmen I can enlist to do the work, but I like all of the parallels that can be drawn between the two.

First of all, a solid group of articles is probably even better than a salesman, if they are equipped with all the right tools. I say this because an article really does never sleep, doesn't need an expense account, doesn't drink alcohol, and can't get into an automobile accident... This doesn't even take into consideration never complaining or being able to quit.

So, what are some of the way's they are alike? Well, let's start by saying that if you don't equip them properly than you can greatly reduce their effectiveness. If I hired a sales rep, and never gave him business cards, he would probably have a hard time getting call backs much less what it would do to his credibility. This is what it is like if you don't create your resource box on your article. There is no way to find you, and how much stock are you going to put into an article that isn't signed?

Let's say you do put a resource box at the end of your article but you don't have the right information in it. This would be like giving your sales rep business cards, but not putting his name on them, or no phone number. How do you think that will impact his effectiveness?

Many of the characteristics of your article can have similar impacts as a sales rep that shares those characteristics also. For example, if your article is too smart, it will probably be too long and won't connect well with the attended audience. This would work out about the same as a salesman that was just a little too smart. He would probably come across as arrogant, and not connect well with potential clients.

What if your sales rep came across as aloof and not so bright? Well, people are not going to be confident that he can really help them or that he can be counted on. Same with an article that is full of fluff or is poorly written: the reader is going to think, this guy probably can't help me, or he doesn't care enough for me to trust him.

One synonym for the word "presence" is charisma. So, what is exactly Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Search engine optimization is the process of amending the content and the meta-information (i.e. Meta-information includes certain HTML tags such as title, heading, emphasized text, keyword and description meta-tags, as well as the internal [links between pages on the same site] and external [links between pages on different sites] link structure of a web site). This is to improve the search engine ranking of the page.

What will be the sales impact if my website is being listed as one of the High Search Engine Rank? Lets us look into this way, the #1 spot in search engine result pages is not particularly impressive if only two people search for your product or service each month.

What is the role of keywords being used in the Search Engine Optimization?

Keywords are words or phrases users provide to search engines to locate information. Search engines examine page content to determine whether a specific page is relevant for a particular search word or phrase. Thus, effective keyword selection is one of the keystones of search engine optimization.

Each keyword is characterized by supply and demand. Supply refers to the number of search engine result pages and demand refers to the number of searches.

The easiest way to improve search engine rank is to select keywords that have favorable supply-demand characteristics; that is, ones with a relatively high demand and a relatively low supply. It is much more difficult to improve the search engine position of a page on a high supply, competitive keyword.

Good keywords should be relevant to your product line and your line of business. For example, a #1 rank for health supplement product is worthless if you sell Health equipment. A potential customer will find your page, quickly discover that you don't sell any Health supplement product, and promptly go elsewhere. In effect, the conversion rate for irrelevant search engine hits is very close to zero.

Choosing a set of target keywords is the first step in search engine optimization. The second step is using them in the body, title, headings, and meta-tags of a page.

Do not overdo it by including target keywords in the text of the page. The keywords should fit smoothly into the surrounding text. While serious search engine optimization remains a difficult and often daunting task for your average website owner, there are many simple things you can do to optimize your site for the search engines. Simple as that! As long as you don't repeat one word more than several times in the title, you can place more than one phrase in the title, like this:

Notice we didn't repeat a single word more than once, fit in 2 important keyword phrases and also fit in the official company name? This is a good title. You can also move the company name to the end of the title to place greater importance on your phrases, like this:

Orange Cat Figurines and Feline Figurines at Company Name

All three formats make good page titles for just about any website.

Body Text

Next, we have the body text of the site. So often, you see sites that have very little or no text on their sites at all. Your main page especially, needs to have some good descriptive text that incorporates the purpose of the website and your most important keyword phrases. Flash sites, sites with splash or entrance pages and sites that are graphics heavy, too often miss this important step.

Your text should read naturally and explain what your site offers and can even include a summary of your products, services, direct links to important pages on the site and contact information.

Page File Names

The file names of each page of your site are also important and can be optimized. Here are some examples of appropriate optimization of page file names:

orange-cats.htm
orange-cat-figurine.htm
cat-figurines.htm
blackcatfigurines.htm

It's quite simple, name the pages that you have these products on with the most important keyword phrase for those products. Avoid using too many words here, just 1 short keyword phrase works best. There's still an argument as to whether the hyphenated version or the non hyphenated version is best. You can also use underscores as well. If your site is already built, you may not be able to change the filenames easily, but if you add additional pages, you can certainly use optimized file names like above.

Heading Tag

This is the very simple H1 tag that makes the text look very large on the page. When the heading tag is used in a page, the search engines tend to think that the phrase contained inside it is very important. The heading tag should be used at the top of a page to highlight one important keyword phrase that is describing the content of the page.

Alternate Image Text

While some search engines don't bother to read this text, some major ones still do. You can optimize the alternate image text to describe an image, but don't stuff it with keywords. Here are some examples of good alternate image text that incorporates keywords:

Orange Cat Figurine (to describe an orange cat figurine) Cat Store Logo (for the logo) Cat Figurine Catalog (for button linking to the main catalog page showing cat figurines)

The alternate text names of each image will also show up when you hover your mouse over an image or for people who are on low speed connections and whose images don't load or take a long time to load.

Some experts claim using the number 7 will dramatically increase your sales and conversion ratio.

However, in his article, "The Truth About The Fallacy Of 7" Dean Phillips strongly disagrees with that assessment. Dean writes:

"Almost without exception, every infomercial I've watched over the years, regardless of the product, have prices that end with a five or a nine. For example, $29.95, $39.99, $249.95. The number "7" may be lucky in dice, but in marketing, it's just another number!"

Is Dean right?

With all due respect to Mr. Phillips, I think he's missing the point. It really doesn't matter what has worked in the past or is currently working for someone else. In marketing, it's all about what works best for you.

It has long been determined blue is the best color to use for your website. The color blue is supposed to have a calming influence over visitors to your website, making them more receptive to your offer. Certain shades of blue indicate dependability, making it a good color for business ads. Blue is also associated with authority and dependability, and is a popular color for uniforms, worn by police officers, mail carriers, security guards and other officials.

With that in mind, I used the color blue when I built my website. However, while doing research for this article, I also discovered some of the most successful Internet Marketing websites don't use blue at all. Websites like Addme.com, Knowthis.com and Marketingterms.com.

I'd like to add something relative to Mark's statement. Selfpromotion.com has one of the ugliest websites I've ever seen. The website is nothing but pages and pages of black text on a white background. Ugly and boring. Yet, the website has been extremely successful for years.

In closing, you should always respect proven, time-tested marketing methods and strategies. But that doesn't mean you have to necessarily go along with the staus quo either. Because in marketing, it ultimately comes down to, what works best for you!

A little more than 3 years ago, MarketingExperiments.com conducted a study on subscription rates. They based their findings on many different variables, and though the tests are old, the principles still apply. I'd like to share some of the results with you here:

1) Make your value proposition prominent

A value proposition tells your potential subscriber what's in it for them. The value proposition gives the primary benefit a person will get from joining your list. For instance, what if your niche is bowling? If you can tell people how to increase their scores 20% just by using a special technique via a special report that people can sign up for on your list building page, do you think avid bowlers would bite? No doubt. Especially if the report you give them is free. This value proposition should be your headline.

2) Easy, fast sign-up

Stick to simple information, such as first name and email address when putting an opt-in box on your list building page. The easier you make it for people to sign up for your list, the more likely they will be to do it.

3) Let people know you'll protect their information.

In these days of identity theft, which is all over the media, people are very leery of signing up for anything, especially online. Let them know that you're one of the good guys, at least in theory. 1) Don't include garbage characters in your TITLE such as quotes, tildes, asterisks or anything else that a search engines has to work hard to discard in order to understand the TITLE of your article.

2) Do not engage in any search engine spam technique by having keyword rich TITLES that have nothing to do with the topic of your article. You'll only be hurting yourself as the search engines already aggressively filter out bad behavior like this.

You finished writing that million dollar article. You puzzled for hours to come up with the perfect title that will compel viewers to read it. Now what? Some marketing experts suggest that you submit it to the top five or ten submission sites. I disagree. I've been marketing articles to generate income for some time now and my experience tells me a different story.

I like to make money with every article I write. Each one is designed for that purpose alone. I laser target my articles to compliment the products Im promoting. For each product, I develop five to seven articles. In addition, I fashion a slightly different resource box for each product. Each resource box will contain several links. One will direct readers to the product Im promoting and the other will point to my sign-in page.

I will time the articles I submit so that come out three or four days apart. I do this because many sites publish a list of their most recent articles submitted. By timing them in this fashion, my articles are given front-page coverage for quite some time.

As I said, many marketing people say that you only need to submit to the top five or ten sites. I say hogwash!! I submit each article to hundreds (and hundreds) of sites. My attitude is, the more sites you submit to, the more page views you get. The more page views generated, the higher your potential income. And personally, I like to maximize my income. In fairness, I will admit that the top ten sites to which I submit represent 30% - 40% of my readers. But why would I leave 60% of my potential business on the table?

In order to achieve the high numbers of submissions that I make, it is absolutely necessary to use an automatic submission program. To do it manually, would take weeks. Even using the submission program, it takes me an entire day to complete the job. But, for the additional income and page views I generate, it is well worth the extra effort.

There are many good article submission programs out there. Some of them are free, and others charge a fee for the program. I find the free ones usually have 50 to 100 sites pre-loaded into them. Typically, the programs for sale contain five hundred to nine hundred sites pre-loaded. Of course, there are a number of other differences, but the quantity of submissions is the most important factor to me.

One of the single biggest mistakes most Internet marketers make is trying jump right into a sales pitch without warming up first.

Article marketing should be an energetic and highly utilized part of any web-business strategy. The two primary ideologies of article distribution - wide array mass-distribution versus focused, small-scale distribution - seem at first to be irreconcilable. However, bringing the two methods together can multiply web traffic by exploiting the best aspects of each, so you can have your cake and eat it, too.

Conservative Distribution Theory

Recently, the most widely accepted theory of article marketing has been to use a focused technique of distributing articles to a handful of quality article directories. The primary reason this method became popular was that search engines began downgrading or penalizing websites that consisted of duplicate content. The search engines had good reason for that. It is not fair to rank cut-and-paste content the same as content created by the hand and mind of dedicated, interested people. The down side of that change of policy is that those of us who wanted to spread our homemade articles out to numerous sources found that our hard work was suddenly viewed less positively. The result was that the good, ethical article marketers set to work writing more articles and distributing them to ten or fifteen highly ranked article directories, while the black-hat guys searched for new dastardly schemes.

The benefits of the new rules were twofold:

1) Instead of spreading a few articles over a very wide area, we were creating more articles on our topics, which helped to bolster our image as experts in our field. Even if we got a bit less traffic, the traffic we did get was of a much higher quality.
2) Submitting to fewer directories meant that we could focus on getting our articles into the proper categories on the higher tier article directories. Once again, this seemed to result in better traffic.

Liberal Distribution Theory

This technique evolved quite naturally from the early days of internet marketing. As soon as we were capable, of course we submitted our articles to as many directories as possible. The more links we had floating out there, the more traffic we received. Much of that traffic was of lower quality, but that was not as important. As long as our servers could take it, we wanted it.

The benefits of the old way were, coincidentally, also twofold:

1) We were able to cast a much wider net. We could throw out the garbage and the small fish, and we kept only the fish we wanted. (I know it is a hackneyed metaphor, but it is true.)
2) With the advent of automated mass-distribution technology, we could get our message and our links out there with one click of the mouse. Maybe our articles were not always placed in the best category, but there were so many instances of our work on the internet that it did not drastically affect our results.

Then, in a story that seems to keep repeating itself, the spammers ruined it for everyone. Of course, they only ruined the easiness of article marketing, not the effectiveness. I must reiterate that these conditions forced us to work harder, which led to our increased knowledge, which then led to our being even better in our niches. Take that, spammers.

The New, Centrist Distribution Theory

Very simply, this is a combination of the two previously described theories. This method was created because although search engines downgrade duplicate content, they do not discount it entirely. If an article marketer today were to use mass-distribution alone, his work would not draw traffic to the level it would have a few years ago. However, his net would still be cast wide, with little effort required after writing the article.

It is now becoming clear that these two techniques can coexist. The trick is to find the right blend.

Some very successful article marketers use mass-distribution services for ten to thirty percent of the articles they write. The rest are submitted by hand (though there are software programs that can simplify this process) to specific categories in article directories that publish high quality, original content. This gives them two nets - one wide net and one deep net. They get long-lasting backlinks that bring them targeted traffic from the manual submissions, and they get volume from the mass-distribution.

The last remaining task is one that never actually ends. Successful article marketers never stop experimenting with which articles to mass-distribute, and with how many to mass-distribute. Start your campaign today, and watch your traffic skyrocket in a few short months.

Are you confident in your article marketing campaign? Many article marketers are not! The reason for this is simple - They write and submit articles only to see little or no results.

If you are one of many who find themselves wondering how the heck they can really get the most out of article marketing then you need to realize a few things.

1. Obtaining hundreds or even thousands of one-way links pointing to your site from low-quality pages will not do you much good. These links do help a little but the fact is the true value of article marketing is of a much greater parallel. What does this mean? It means that mass submission is not as good as it seems. Pick a few of the top article directories, authority Websites in your niche and Ezines. Submit to only these sites and your articles will get much better Search Engine rankings.

2. The most important factor in any article marketing campaign is writing in a way as to spark an interest with the viewers. If your articles are on "rehashed" material most people will move on. BBC NEWS breaks search engine sp*m news, while this story has been making the rounds of SEO/SEM forums and newsletters for the past couple of days, since Matt Cutts posted about it in his SEO blog on February 4th:

... at first there was little international press (and none in the US) on the issue, but the BBC story has started a landslide of news and commentary on search engine sp*m by major corporations. It is also likely to brand all SEO's universally as bad guy Black Hat SEO's and ignore the good guy White Hats. Legitimate techniques and resulting ranking improvements rarely gain the attention given the bad guys.

I've reported major Fortune 500 corporations for sp*mming through the Google sp*m reporting link a half dozen times over the past year and am happy to see actions being taken against the worst offenders.

BMW Germany targeting the term "Used Cars" on it's new car site using javascript redirects is a blatant abuse of doorway pages and cloaking for inappropriate search phrases.

Cutts shows screen captures of the BMW offense, but mentions only peripherally that Ricoh.de would be banned as well, then sends a direct message to a separate US automaker at the end of his sp*mming post, telling them that they'll be re-included following a 30 day ban for similar offenses they've apparently cleaned up from their European site.

Search engine sp*mming is certainly not limited to Europe, although one of my complaints to the Google sp*m reporting link is for a European company site, which 5 months after reporting, STILL ranks #1 for a highly competitive phrase in US results. They use different search engine sp*mming techniques employing invisible code full of links, H1 tags and keyword phrases which are intended for surfers with javascript turned off - the < noscript> tag. Search engines see this invisible text, while surfers don't as it is buried in the HTML code.

The home page of one site I reported for sp*mming is made up entirely of images and has no hope of ranking well for any search phrase from the home page due to complete lack of text, so they may feel justified in using < noscript> tags to rank for an admittedly appropriate search phrase, by using a technique recognized as search engine sp*mming. When any large corporation sees fit to use sp*mming techniques, it encourages EVERYONE to do the same, simply because they feel justified for whatever reason suits them, reasonable or not.

This lesser known technique, filling < noscript> tags with H1, tags, keyword phrase hypertext links, and invisible text within tags, is effective and is used by many sp*mmers. I believe that smaller offenders would be instantly banned if this were discovered in use on their site, even if they were using appropriate keyword phrases for their topic or site subject. The big boys should be penalized as well.

I'll feel better when ALL search engine sp*mming techniques are penalized equally, regardless of the technique used or terms targeted, or any rationalized justifications. When that happens universally, then sp*mmers will stop sp*mming the search engines. But not until then.

This BMW case has become high profile for a major offense and is likely to gain attention in hurriedly called meetings in boardrooms of major corporations, with webmasters and marketing departments in attendance. "Are we doing this!" CEO's will rage at befuddled webmasters or in-house SEO's. But until ALL methods of search sp*m are penalized publicly, those lesser offenses will continue at all levels - especially large companies with more to gain (when they get away with sp*mming) and to lose (when they get caught and exposed/banned).

This is the first of a two-part article on overfilling your marketing funnel and client pipeline.

In order to insure that your pipeline doesn't dry up as existing clients take vacations or move on, you want to overfill your marketing funnel in order to create a waiting list of people who want to work with you.

Before we discuss which strategies should have a prominent place in your marketing action plan, you'll want to have a few items in your marketing toolkit:

1. Write out your USP.

Your Unique Selling Proposition tells prospects what makes you different. Why should they hire you as opposed to Joe? What can you bring to the relationship that is different than what Mary brings? YOU need to know what your USP is in order to successfully market your business -- it's a cornerstone of your brand.

Dominos pizza guarantees delivery in 30 minutes or it's free. McDonald's food is fast (you don't go there for "good". . .you go for "fast"). What do you do?

2. Write and memorize your elevator speech.

Whether you work from home or in an office, you want to have an effective elevator speech ready. Remember that you only have a few seconds to capture my attention, what do you need me to know? What results do you provide your clients? Chances are, it's not your company name and title!

3. Create an attractive website.

Your website needs to be "attractive" -- not pretty in the usual sense, but attractive to the prospects that you want to attract. Your home page must touch on a problem that your target audience has and how you can resolve that problem.

I don't care how long you've been in business if you can solve my problem -- whatever my problem may be. Your prospects feel the same.

4. Have attractive business cards.

If you attend networking events of any type, you need to have a business card. See number 3 above -- your business card needs to be attractive to the person you want to hand it to. You should write your USP on the card, list your tagline, or otherwise "speak" to your prospects via your card so when they are flipping through the cards a month after the event, they'll remember you.

Cards have a back side, use it to offer a no-cost report (this is the best option if you have a newsletter) or list a client testimonial. I use Overnight Prints for all my business and postcard needs and love them!

5. Come from a "full practice" mentality.

This last one is perhaps the most important. You want to insure that you do not come across as "lacking" or "needy" to your prospective clients.

For those of you unfamiliar with viral marketing, the concept is simple. Produce something that can be passed easily from one person to another and then encourage them to do so. He tells two friends, she tells two friends, they tell two friends kind of thing. As you can see, if your virus catches on, you'll be able to get your message in front of exponentially more people than you could ever do by yourself.

To keep things simple, I'm going to focus on viral reports as the medium of the virus. They have been around for a long time, and are the easiest to develop. But just because they've been around a while, doesn't mean everyone knows how to create a free report that gets spread around like a virus. Later in this article I'm going to go over 3 big reasons free reports fail to become viral.

But first...

I want to make sure you understand WHY viral marketing is so powerful. It might not be immediately understood why getting your message spread around like a virus is so important. In simple terms, it is because it can bring more traffic to your website, can get more people to subscribe to your email list and produce more sales for your products or affiliate recommendations.

So, this is big: don't produce a report that you want to go viral without a link back to your website, a link to promote your list and links to your products or affiliate recommendations. I know this might be obvious, but if you do get a report to go viral, you want to make sure it works to improve your business. The last thing you want si to get a report spreading all over the web that doesn't do anything to bring more traffic, get more subscribers or put more money in your pocket.

And while I'm talking of the obvious... make sure you let them know they can pass it along! You don't want them wondering if it's alright to pass it along. You want them to act.

OK, what are the 3 biggest reasons reports don't go viral?

Reason 1: Wrong Topic. In order for a report to be spread around, it must be something MANY people want to know about. Forget about "niches" for viral reports. You want a BIG, HUNGRY market looking for information. The topic must apply to a lot of people... or else why would someone send it along to their friends?

Once you have your HOT topic in a big market, make sure the title grabs the attention of the market. You need to immediately convey this is something they MUST read.

Reason 2: Poor Quality. Ok, you got your hot topic and get people to download and read your report. The information inside MUST be of high-quality. Yes, this is a free report and shouldn't be expected to give away everything, but it still must be of value all by itself. If it isn't, why would anyone want to pass it along?

So, make sure your free report is "valuable" as a stand-alone report.

Reason 3: No Backup. Even if you create a high-quality report on a HOT topic in a crowded, hungry market... it doesn't mean the report will go viral. Why? Simply, because people are lazy and need a GOOD REASON to take the time to send the report along.

One of the best reasons I can think of to get people to pass along your report is to let them brand the report with their affiliate links. Then they'll pass the report along because the more exposure the report gets, the more likely they are to make money.

But if you really want to get the report spreading like a virus, you should go one step further and provide guidance and resources to help people promote the report. Don't just say, "Send out an email". Give them a email they can cut-and-paste. Give them report graphics. Give them articles. Give them everything they need to make spreading the report as easy and as profitable as possible.

Then you'll have a highly successful viral marketing campaign that spreads quickly.

Okay, you've taken your list of interests, you've picked one item on that list and you've narrowed it down to a very specific keyword phrase. In this example, I decided to go with the more narrowed keyword phrase "Alternative Treatments For Acne."

Let's see what our demand and competition is.

How do we do this?

Well, the competition is easy. Just go to Google and type in, with the quotes YOUR keyword phrase. I'll type in mine.

I get 37,000 sites coming up with that keyword phrase. Okay, not too bad. Now, let's see how many monthly searches we get. To do this, go to a keyword suggestion tool and type in the same phrase.

I use many. Here's one of them - www.wordtracker.com (you can use the trial version)

It's not the easiest tool to use but with Overture now gone, outside of paid tools, there's not a lot out there that even works anymore. Now, the tool will also give you alternative keyword phrases, because not everybody is going type in YOUR phrase. Wordtracker will give you a decent list.

Okay, type in your keyword phrase, again with the quotes, and see how many monthly searches you get.

In my case, not too good. My original phrase only got 2 monthly searches. And even the best word in my list, "Acne" only got 1688 monthly searches and it's not very targeted. What I mean by targeted is this.

Does everybody who types in acne into a search engine want an alternative treatment? Some may simply be looking up what causes it. That's why you want your target phrase to be as specific as possible.

So let's see what we have 1688 searches for a non targeted phrase and over 37,000 sites to go up against. I don't know about you but I don't like those odds. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't pursue this, but if you do, I just want you to understand what you're going to be up against. It will be an uphill battle.

Ideally, you want to find a keyword phrase where you have about 1000 - 2000 competing sites and about 5,000 to 10,000 searches a month. Believe it or not, these ratios exist. They're not easy to find but they do exist. And when you latch onto a niche with very little competition and a good number of monthly searches, you've basically found yourself a goldmine. The key is cashing in on it.

Just keep repeating the above process until you find a niche that you are happy with. It may take some time, but it's time well spent.

This is an article marketing method that I use frequently. I use something called multiple personality article marketing. This is where you create different accounts to write articles. Why would I do this? So I can talk about a topic even more. I can cover even more grounds if I write my articles in different article hosting servers.

It's all about writing the most amount of articles. And I can achieve this more if I use other article hosting servers. But you have to keep in mind, if you use this method, you are not allowed to copy and paste! This is the worst article marketing method that you can possibly use. So always write new and unique articles about your topic.

When I create different accounts, I usually do it because if I use two different accounts, more people will come to me. I'm simply covering more ground. That is what article marketing is all about. The ones who dominate their keyword with articles, are the ones who cover the most amount of ground. That is what you need to do. Even if that means creating new accounts. This is totally legal.

As a beginning article marketer, I must say that using this method is crucial. When your waiting for your pending articles, I demand that you write even more articles on a different account. 4. Find related keywords

The Google adwords tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) generates a list of related keywords. Enter each of these related keywords into wordtracker. You will now have hundreds of topics (and sub-topics) you can write about.

Tip

Whenever you think of a new topic, jot it down for future reference, then when you get stuck for a subject you can refer back to this paper. It will save hours of your time deciding what to write about. You can also develop many articles simultaneously because you have already done the necessary topic preparation. Now you will no longer have to sit in front of a blank screen with a blank mind when searching for article topics.

Once you have written your article (and by the way, make sure that you have thoroughly spell checked your article and made sure that it is not ungrammatical ask a member of your family or a friend to read it over for you), then make sure that there is some way for your reader to access your website for more information.

The easiest way to allow the reader to access your web site directly from your article is to include a backlink (or 2 or 3) to your web site or web pages therein. You can either create a bio; this will generally be permitted by the article directories in the form of the authors resource box; and in the bio include a backlink to your main page. This is a box which is added to your article and in which you can say a bit about yourself and provide a link to any page in your website that you want.

Another thing I like to do, when the article directory permits it, is to include specific web pages in my text anchor backlinks, rather than my index or main page.

This is what is so good about article marketing. You can advertise a specific page within your website. If readers like the article and wants to copy it to their own website, they may do so as long as they include your resource box. What this does is to provide you with a link to your web page back from theirs, without you having to provide a reciprocal link.

If I submit one article personally to 25 article directories, and in two weeks find I have 1000 copies of my article online, but I pay a submission company to submit a different article for me to the same list of 25 article directories, and after two weeks there are only 100 copies of my article online - I can be reasonably sure that article submission company has not done all the work they have billed me for.

The same method can be used to test different article directories, groups of directories, or different article distribution services.

Another method I use for testing my article traffic is by using a combination of multiple landing pages and my autoresponder service.

This is a little more intricate, and takes a little more time to set up, but it gives me very accurate statistics for exactly where my traffic comes from, and I can target it to the exact article or article directory, if I so choose.

Sometimes I am asked why I dont just use a tracking service to track my traffic, and that is a fair question, and I will answer it before I explain how I do my own testing.

There are two primary ways to track incoming traffic effectively: by creating tracking links which are assigned to specific traffic sources, or by using cookies that track each visitor to a page.

The drawback to using tracking links is that if you write and submit hundreds of articles and they are picked up by perhaps thousands or even tens of thousands of web sites, and they all contain your tracking links, then you are pretty much unable to ever leave that tracking service without leaving your links behind. I am simply not willing to give a tracking company that much control over my traffic.

The primary drawback to using cookies is that they do tend to expire or be deleted. This is generally not a problem for the type of testing of article traffic that I am discussing here, but since I also use my system to track sales funnel origination for my sales, I want to be able to track those sales for a longer period of time than is reasonable with a cookie system.

One of the most common preconceptions with SEO is that if you optimize a site for the benefit of Google then you will rank well with other search engines. However, the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) all use different algorithms that demand different things. Google has a mixed bag but certainly leans towards inbound links whereas Yahoo loves keyword dense content sites. This leaves us with MSN, whose primary consideration when determining their search results seems to be heavily based on internal linking structure and inbound links. But these are far from the only SEO techniques you need to consider.

MSN The Meta Search Engine

MSN Search is a meta search engine. Whereas Google openly ignores your meta tags in the majority of cases MSN blatantly uses them to index your pages and discover your keywords. At the very least you need to include the keywords, description, and title meta tags. Your main keywords should be included in all of these with your primary keyword appearing first in the keywords meta tag. All tags must include the keywords you consider the most important to your site.

Also, because MSN uses the meta tags, you should be careful not to spam them with numerous instances of your keyword or the use of incorrect or inaccurate keywords. At present, meta spamming doesnt seem to be an issue with the MSNbot but it is only a matter of time and when the change occurs you wont receive any warning before your site is penalized.

Page Layout And Code

The coding of a page is always an issue with search engines and, therefore, should be important to you as well. If a crawler cant crawl your site then you are unlikely to be indexed and you certainly wont receive the high ranking you want. Keep the amount of HTML or any other programming language on your page down to an absolute minimum and ensure that page sizes are below 150KB at the very most.

Another slightly contentious issue is the use of tables. Again, this leads us back to a crawling problem. MSN does not condemn the use of tables on the whole. However, the MSNbot does not like to see tables within tables within tables. This can be a problem if you dont use CSS and rely on tables to keep your page neat. Including another table in the layout of your page begins to make things look messy from the point of view of the MSNbot.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is an area of SEO that always causes arguments. No search engine openly publishes their requirements in this area but it is widely accepted that while Google has stringent rules in place that require minimal use of keywords both Yahoo and MSN have a much greater tolerance for higher levels. Google prefers only a 2% to 3% density while MSN and Yahoo allow 5% to 6%, possibly even a little higher.

Of course this raises the problem that optimizing for MSN may have you flagged as spam with Google. Fortunately, MSN and Yahoo, both take keyword stemming and keyword variants into account when doing their calculations. Use keyword plurals and stems, and try to ensure that you dont go above the Google ideal of 2% for each of these variants. Also, it is absolutely imperative that your SEO writing does not prevent you from writing copy that is appealing to human visitors.

Your website infrastructure is important to MSN. Many sites, my own included, have shown excellent results in MSN based on the internal text links and associated anchor text. Try to use the primary keyword for a page as its title and ensure that you use this keyword in all of your navigation bars on your site. This will have a very positive influence on the MSNbot.

Also, as with all search engines, MSN wants to be able to reach every page of your site quickly and easily. Text links are best for navigation and all pages should be reached within three clicks from your home page. If you use graphical navigation bars then you should consider either changing them to text links or including a sitemap that is one click away from your homepage.

Inbound Link Importance

Inbound links count as votes for your website. The more votes you get from sites the better, but moreover the more influential the sites that provide a link to you the greater your search engine results. In all honesty, MSN currently appear to favor the quantity of links over the quality but search engine algorithms are renowned for evolving so try to plan ahead and get relevant links from popular pages. The most important aspect of any individual inbound link is the anchor text. You must get webmasters to use your primary keyword for the page that the link points to as the anchor text.

Getting to the top of the search engines and being found by potential customers is no easy task. In fact, it takes a lot of time and energy to develop an effective search engine strategy for your business.

This is probably the reason that none of the "gurus" ever talk about search engines, except for pay per clicks, as a way to develop real traffic to your site. The problem here is that the cost of pay per click can quickly become prohibitive.

However, if you want to send tons of TARGETED traffic to your site, and do it for years to come, there are three ways that work and will always work if you apply them consistently.

1. Search Engine Optimization

This is the first place you need to start. Learn how to actually optimize your site for the search engines.

When you optimize your website for the search engines, you're not actually optimizing your site for your keywords, you optimize individual pages. This gives you a lot of flexibility because you can optimize different pages for different keywords. What's most important here is to make sure that you optimize your pages for the right keywords.
